3rd Grade Southwest Pottery

3rd grade artists created pinch pot with red clay, and then added painted accents and designs similar to the art of the southwest anasazi artists. We studied line, pattern, geometric design as we learned about the native american people who created this art in the past.

This looks like so much fun! When I was in elementary school, pottery was my favorite!
Did you fire these or just let them dry?

Way to go with the fun projects!! Also, I loved the Polynesian art that you posted a couple of months ago! The artwork they produced is beautiful! :-)

The pots were made from a red air dry clay. This is really popular right now because you don't have to fire it. After drying, we painted the pots and then coated them with white glue to give it a shiny finish. The pots are all beautiful.
